AI-Native Design Engineer - Fulltime - Overlap EST

Overview

Cloaked is a privacy-first identity company building consumer products that protect people's personal information at scale. We are an AI-native team that ships fast and operates lean. We are looking for a Design Engineer who owns the craft of the interface — someone whose work is judged by what they ship, not by a coding test.

This is a hands-on contract engagement, not a delineated-task role. You will own screens end to end: layout, motion, micro-interactions, and the copy that ties them together. Taste is the job — the aesthetic quality, the feel of the animations, and the polish of the details are what we are hiring for.

What You'll Do

End-to-End Interface Craft
● Own screens from design through shipped code — layout, hierarchy, and visual quality.
● Build the animations and micro-interactions that make the product feel alive and considered.
Polish & Taste
● Hold a high bar for aesthetic quality and the small details that separate good from great.
● Write and refine interface copy so the words match the quality of the design.
Front-End Implementation
● Implement designs in production front-end code, owning the result the user actually sees.
● Collaborate across the stack to wire interfaces to real data and real behavior.
AI-Native Execution
● Use modern AI coding tools fluently to ship at high velocity across multiple workstreams.
● Run your own productivity harness — managing parallel agent streams and many concurrent tickets is the default, not the exception.

What You Bring

● A portfolio of work you shipped end to end, where you owned the aesthetic quality, animations, micro-interactions, layout, and copy.
● Strong front-end implementation skills (e.g., React) paired with a designer's eye for detail.
● Demonstrated taste — the ability to make interfaces feel polished, fast, and intentional.
● Proven ability to hit the ground running with minimal onboarding and operate autonomously in ambiguity.
● Daily fluency with AI-assisted development tools and a personal setup for working quickly across parallel tasks.
● Exceptional written and verbal English communication.

Nice to Have

● Live web apps or shipped products you can show and walk through.
● Experience in privacy, identity, security, fintech, or other consumer products at scale.
● Startup background where you owned design and implementation end to end.

Role Characteristics

● Contract engagement, time-and-materials; begins with a two-week trial.
