AI Engineer - Part-time - NA/LATAM/EU

About the Project

Join a fast-moving team building a revolutionary AI-driven Progressive Web App (PWA) that lets users create custom foam inserts for hard cases with just a photo. Think: instant layout recommendations, case sizing, and drag-and-drop editing — all without needing to download an app.

We’re now looking for an AI Engineer to build the core intelligence layer that powers object recognition, layout optimization, and smart recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

• Computer Vision Pipeline: Build or integrate object recognition models to identify items from user-uploaded photos (e.g., firearms, cameras, tools).
• Layout Recommendation Engine: Create algorithms that suggest optimal object placement in the foam insert (e.g., spacing, orientation, weight distribution).
• AI Chat Assistant: Integrate natural language processing (NLP) that understands typed queries (e.g., "I have a Sony A7II and 4 SD cards") and returns recommended layouts and case sizes.
• Continuous Learning Loop: Implement a feedback mechanism that improves layout accuracy over time using past user inputs, selections, and product reviews.
• Data Handling: Support the creation of a dynamic item database (e.g., scanned camera models, firearms, gear) with structured metadata.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in AI/ML engineering, ideally with production deployment
• Hands-on experience with computer vision, image classification, and object detection
• Familiarity with tools like YOLO, OpenCV, MediaPipe, or custom CV models
• Experience working with OpenAI (ChatGPT API) or similar NLP tools
• Understanding of recommendation engines, basic clustering, or layout optimization
• Strong Python skills; ability to integrate models into a front-end/backend stack
• Bonus: Experience with Shopify APIs, Supabase, or PWA integrations
