Ellen Yang, Recruiter We are an early-stage startup working with residential energy data, mostly time series consumption data for homes across Australia. We use this data to drive outcomes for homeowners, helping them lower their energy costs and carbon footprint.
This is a rare opportunity to build a SaaS product that can have a direct impact on lowering carbon emissions in one of the most polluting countries in the world per capita.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Clojure, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
- Collaborate with the frontend team to integrate React and Typescript interfaces seamlessly with backend services.
- Manage and optimize a time-series database to efficiently store and process user consumption data.
- Implement and maintain Google Cloud Functions and Firebase services as part of our cloud infrastructure.
- Participate in the development of an MVP, analyzing user feedback from pilot programs to refine and enhance product features.
- Work closely with a small, remote team of founders and contractors, contributing to a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Engage in continuous learning and improvement, staying abreast of the latest developments in Clojure and related technologies.
Required and Preferred Skills:
- Extensive experience with Clojure development, including building scalable backend systems.
- Proficiency in React and Typescript for frontend development.
- Strong understanding of time-series databases and their application in data-driven environments.
- Experience with cloud services, particularly Google Cloud Platform and Firebase.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to a diverse team.
Nice to Have:
- Previous experience in the energy sector or with data-driven SaaS products.
- Familiarity with data visualization techniques and tools.
- Contributions to open-source Clojure projects or active participation in the Clojure community.
- Understanding of environmental impact and a passion for sustainability initiatives.
- Experience working in a startup environment, particularly in remote or distributed teams.
More Details: We're currently testing out an MVP through a pilot program with a handful of homes helping them save money and lower their emissions based on their consumption data and patterns.
We need your expertise and hard work to help us develop our product based on our user feedback from the pilot. We're a small team of a full-time and a part-time founder and three part-time contractors. A few of us have worked at large YC startups, IBM, and are previous founders. We all work remote from different parts of Australia and the world.
