Juliana Torrisi, Recruiter🧠 About Us
We’re building a new kind of learning platform—Brilliant.org meets nonfiction books—turning powerful ideas into beautifully simple, interactive games. Our goal: help people master big ideas by playing with them.
We’re not making “edutainment.” We’re building games that teach through mechanics—that reward curiosity, challenge assumptions, and make ideas stick.
🎯 What You’ll Do
- Design and prototype 2D mini-games and interactive challenges that teach core ideas from nonfiction books
- Work with content writers and learning designers to turn complex ideas into playable metaphors
- Create simple, clear, and elegant game mechanics that convey insight
- Collaborate with developers to bring your designs to life in mobile-first environments
- Help define the visual and interaction style of the platform
- Design for engagement, learning flow, and user retention
🔍 What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a 2D game designer/developer who has experience building small, thoughtful games—ideally with React Native or similar mobile-first tech.
You should be:
- Comfortable creating simple game loops, interactions, and feedback systems
- Experienced with rapid prototyping and iterating on gameplay ideas
- Ideally familiar with or excited to work in React Native (with or without Expo) to bring those games to life on mobile
- Passionate about games that teach, games that explain, or just weird little games that make people think
Whether you’ve built a puzzle game, a simulation, or an interactive story—we’re looking for someone who understands how to express ideas through play, not just polish visuals.
✨ Nice to Haves
- Animation/motion design skills
- UI/UX experience for educational or mobile games
- Familiarity with cognitive load, scaffolding, and learning frameworks
- A love of books and turning “a-ha moments” into interactivity
