About
Mustafa is a self-taught Programmer & Innovator who started coding at 15, mastering C# on a Pentium 4. He holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science & Mathematics from IBA, Karachi. His first project, a multi-tab web browser for Windows Phone 7.5, quickly garnered over 500+ users and was acquired by a London-based software firm.
At 17, Mustafa completed his first freelance project, developing a POS system for a local restaurant chain. His international career commenced at Layzee, a UAE-based super app, where, as a Senior React Native Engineer, he contributed to a team that competed with giants like Careem, an Uber subsidiary. He then advanced to become a Lead Full Stack Developer at PeerDrop, a UK-based social grocery app, managing both backend and frontend and eventually rising to the role of Tech Lead.
In fintech, Mustafa led as the Senior Software Engineer for NabyPay in London. His time at Beam.ai in Berlin was particularly notable. There, he was engaged in fine-tuning open-source Large Language Models (LLMs) like Llama 2 and Mixtral, integrating them with tools like Langchain and Toolformer to enhance AI algorithms. He also played a key role in front-end development using React.
Parallel to his professional achievements, Mustafa led personal tech projects with significant societal impacts. During his sophomore year at IBA, Karachi, he co-founded PlasmaWarrior, a vital mobile app during the COVID-19 pandemic that connected plasma donors with recipients, saving 12 lives.
In his final year at IBA, he launched NearSphere, a location-based social media app that utilized geo-location to connect people. Starting from his campus with 600 users, he expanded it to over 15,000+ people in Karachi. As the sole founder of NearSphere, Mustafa not only developed the mobile app, backend, and ML models but also managed customer engagement, marketing, and scriptwriting for DVC campaigns that gained viral attention and media coverage. This endeavor led to NearSphere's incubation at the National Incubation Center Karachi (NICK) in Cohort X.
Currently, Mustafa serves as a Senior Software Engineer and Mobile App Lead at a stealth health tech Firm in Ontario, Canada. In this role, he continues to drive health technology innovations, showcasing his commitment to impactful technology.
Work Experience
Building Canada’s AI-Powered Healthcare Ecosystem—Mobile-First & Fully Autonomous for Government & Private Sectors.
- Worked with an engineering team of 15 people, collaborated, reviewed PRs, and developed the following good code practices for the Frontend engineering squad.
- Worked in the Frontend squad on the consumer-facing web app written in React JS with AntDesign. Utilized RTK Query and Redux Toolkit for efficient fetching of APIs and caching of responses.
- Worked in the Machine Learning Squad, did prompt engineering, and fine-tuned the foundation models such as GPT and LLAMA2 to achieve the desired results
- Created an algorithm that takes advantage of open-source LLMs such as ToolFormer and AutoGPT to autonomously perform tasks, adding GPT to ask for input and output and creating AI Agents that just work for you.
- Worked on some backend APIs written in NEST JS.
