Principal Software Engineer (Mobile)

Seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer - Mobile / .NET Maui  and engineering excellence champion leading the design and development of complex, scalable mobile solutions using OOP principles, design patterns, and mobile technologies such as Maui, Xamarin, and .NET (C#).

You will be expected to take on complicated features while also mentoring less senior developers on coding practices, design patterns, and the overall processes to follow that lead to high-quality code.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex, scalable mobile solutions using OOP principles, design patterns, and mobile technologies such as Maui, Xamarin, and .NET (C#).
• Be a champion in engineering excellence, which starts from clean, testable code and spans through unit tests.
• Provide technical leadership in memory management and application performance, teaching the team best practices for garbage collection and memory allocation.
• Execute spikes/POCs to validate architecture, design, or concepts.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, UX designers, and other stakeholders to define and implement software functionality, architecture, and system designs. Work with backend engineers to align mobile and backend solutions and ensure system-wide considerations are addressed.
• Lead the team in the implementation of security best practices and mentor others on their use.
• Mentor and guide less experienced developers on coding patterns, engineering practices, and cross-platform optimization.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in software development, with at least 4 years focusing on a commercial software product.
• Expert-level knowledge of .NET Maui and/or Xamarin and .NET (C#), with a strong understanding of OOP principles, SOLID, and design patterns.
• Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQLite) and ORM frameworks (.NET Entity Framework).
• Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD) and utilizing DevOps practices.
• Firm understanding of mobile build and release process (Apple App Store, Google Play, ad-hoc, etc.)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS).
• Demonstrated ability to tackle complex mobile challenges while mentoring others and improving team capabilities.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives in a complex product environment.
• Proficiency in developing and consuming service-oriented architecture (REST and SOAP).
