SkyGrid, a Boeing SparkCognition Company, exists to open the sky for autonomous flight. Based in Austin, Texas, SkyGrid builds high-assurance third-party services to enable the safe operations and airspace integration of autonomous aircraft. SkyGrid also acts as a key operational nexus for advanced air mobility, integrating and managing data, infrastructure, access, and traffic to support seamless and efficient air traffic services.
The SkyGrid team is looking for a Senior System Engineer to provide expert support in the entire development lifecycle of Aeronautical and Environmental data including conceptual design to test and validation. This experienced individual will be responsible for ensuring compliance with industry standards (FAA and ICAO) through the development process while tracking and communicating identified requirements to support engineering technical reviews. This person will also nurture and maintain supplier relations with our data service providers.
Performance Objectives:
- Review and identify gaps in requirements and architecture concerning aeronautical data.
- Lead and maintain positive supplier relationships with data service providers and ensure the resolution of issues and gaps.
- Lead validation activities related to aeronautical data requirements and design.
- Maintain updates to requirements and system documentation as necessary.
- Take ownership of baseline and advanced PSU functions related to aeronautical data.
- Continued to lead and maintain supplier relationships with data service providers.
- Lead verification activities related to aeronautical data requirements and design.
- Provide expert support within cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Support the systems engineering efforts from conceptual design through test and validation related to Aeronautical and Environmental Data
- Design the integration of Aeronautical and Environmental Data in accordance with industry standards
- Develop, decompose, and track requirements from initial design to final verification and validation
- Perform system modeling, requirements decomposition, and support of engineering technical reviews
- Collaborate and manage the integration of aeronautical data service providers
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or related STEM degree from an accredited university or college
- 7+ years of experience working in a highly technical, aerospace-related industry
- 2+ years of experience as a system engineer in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems
- 4+ years of specialized expertise in aeronautical data systems
- Strong communication skills, self-driven and capable of participating in senior leadership discussions
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Familiarity of systems engineering principles and practices and requirements tool (e.g.Polarion, DOORS)
- Solid understanding of FAA and ICAO standards applicable to aeronautical data
- Strong knowledge of aeronautical charts, data, and databases(Airspace, Airport, Terrain, Obstacle, NOTAMs and Weather)
- Knowledge of DO-200B, AC 20-153B, and ARINC 424
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Engineering degree (Masters) from an accredited institution
- Experience working on certified aerospace programs including ARP4754A and DO-178C
