About the Opportunity:
The organization is a global leader in cybersecurity, focusing on protecting people, processes, and technologies at scale. This opportunity is for a backend software engineer to join the Ingestion group, responsible for managing ultra-high-volume network communications between the security cloud and customer resources. The role involves working with large-scale distributed systems, network protocols, and cloud environments to support mission-critical cybersecurity solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Design and lead major initiatives such as proprietary cloud protocols in a high-volume, distributed environment
• Collaborate with sensor teams for various platforms including Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android
• Develop and maintain backend services written in Golang, supported by Kafka
• Manage network connections, protocols, and performance optimization
• Balance network connections, manage virtual sessions, distribute dynamic content, and oversee datastreams
• Troubleshoot system failures across service pipelines
• Apply engineering best practices including testing, code reviews, and resilient architecture
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, product management, support, and sales engineering
Requirements:
• Degree in Computer Science or commensurate experience in data structures, algorithms, or distributed systems
• Over 7 years of experience in backend software development
• Experience building high-volume services and systems for cloud-delivered SaaS products
• Knowledge of at least one cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Expertise in scaling backend systems (sharding, partitioning, horizontal scaling)
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving system failures in distributed systems
• Deep understanding of multi-threading, concurrency, and parallel processing
• Proficiency in engineering best practices, including peer code reviews and continuous integration
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, test-driven, and collaborative programming environment
• Strong problem-solving, design, and communication skills
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Bonus: Experience implementing web servers and load balancers, leading open source projects, contributing to the open source community, exposure to Go, Scala, AWS, Cassandra, Kafka, Elasticsearch, or cybersecurity/intelligence fields
