This is a newly created seat between the head of digital and a two-person paid media team. It exists because the leader is carrying the client relationships and the day-to-day campaign work at the same time, and needs a partner who takes both.

• You run your clients end to end: the planning sessions, the kickoffs, the recurring performance reviews, and the recommendation at the end of them. No account layer between you and the decision.

• You lead the team. Two paid media teammates, in the platforms next to you, and the department grows from there.

• Small, senior digital group inside a mid-sized independent agency. Not a holding company, not siloed, not three approvals deep.

• Fully remote within the United States.

  

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲

• You run the weekly client call and the quarterly review yourself, and you like being the person the client calls.

• You are in the ad platforms every week, personally, building and fixing, not reviewing someone else's build.

• You have led one to three buyers or analysts and can point to something specific you changed about how they work.

• You keep score in cost per acquisition, ROAS, and conversion quality. Impressions and reach are not how you measure a month.

• You have carried several clients at once and can move between budgets, targets, and personalities without dropping a thread.

• You are comfortable in regulated categories, where compliance shapes what you can say and how you can target.

  

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿

• If you moved into pure oversight and have not personally built a campaign in a couple of years, this is not your seat. That is the most common reason we will pass.

• If an account lead runs your client relationships and you present when asked, this is a bigger job than that.

• If your background is brand and awareness work measured in impressions, this will not be a fit.

• If you have only ever supported a single in-house brand, multi-client agency pace will be a shock.

• If you plan to keep a consultancy or freelance clients on the side, this is a full-time seat and we will ask.

  

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝘄𝗻

• Client relationships on your accounts: strategy conversations, annual planning, campaign kickoffs, status meetings, and performance reviews, presented by you.

• Paid media strategy across paid search, paid social, programmatic, connected TV, online video, and display for a portfolio of regional and national clients.

• Hands-on campaign build, launch, optimization, and troubleshooting in Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Meta, LinkedIn, and programmatic platforms.

• Measurement you can defend: pixels, conversion events, offline conversion imports, customer-list audiences, UTMs, and the attribution conversation with the client.

• Testing roadmaps across creative, audiences, landing pages, and bid strategies, and the discipline to apply what they teach across accounts.

• Budget pacing and billing reconciliation on your accounts. Unusual at this level, and deliberate.

• Leading two paid media teammates: coaching in the platforms, reviewing builds and optimizations, and setting the quality bar for the department.

  

𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘀

• 40 percent hands-on in the platforms

• 25 percent strategy

• 15 percent reporting and insights

• 20 percent client conversations and working with creative and account teams

  

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿

• Several years running paid media in an agency, carrying at least three clients at the same time.

• Current, hands-on ownership of campaigns in the major ad platforms. This is the first thing we will ask about.

• Clients you own today, where you run the recurring call and the reviews. This is the second thing we will ask about.

• People you have led: one to three buyers or analysts, and what changed because you led them.

• A performance and acquisition orientation. You can walk through a CAC or ROAS number, what moved it, and what you changed.

• Comfort working next to creative teams and giving media-informed creative direction.

• Practical use of AI in your work. We want to hear what you have actually used in the last year or two and what it changed.

  

On title: we are flexible. Director, associate director, or senior manager today, if you own clients, lead people, and still build, we want to talk.

  

𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲

• Insurance, healthcare, financial services, education, or another regulated category.

• Lead-generation or ecommerce performance background.

• StackAdapt, The Trade Desk, Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Looker Studio.

  

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀

• 120,000 to 140,000 base, depending on experience.

• Fully remote within the United States.

• Client budgets run from roughly 25,000 a month to well past 150,000 a month, which is a couple of million a year in working media.

• A stable, established agency where people tend to stay a long time.
