_About the Opportunity_

This opportunity is for experienced _Software Engineers and Open Source Contributors_ with demonstrated expertise in _Python, Java, Rust, Go, C++, TypeScript, algorithms, and large-scale software development_ to contribute to advanced AI research and evaluation projects. You'll apply your engineering expertise to build realistic software engineering environments that help evaluate and improve the capabilities of next-generation AI systems.

No prior AI experience is required. Your software engineering experience, open-source contributions, and technical problem-solving abilities are the primary qualifications for success in this role. Professionals with active _GitHub or GitLab profiles_ and a proven track record of code contributions are especially encouraged to apply.

 

_Responsibilities_

• Develop expert-level code solutions, debugging workflows, and engineering insights across _Python, Java, Rust, Go, C++, and TypeScript_ ecosystems.

• Design and build _Reinforcement Learning (RL) environments_ that evaluate AI systems on real-world software engineering tasks.

• Create challenges involving _bug fixing, feature implementation, code refactoring, and performance optimization_.

• Develop reproducible engineering environments and _golden reference solutions_ for AI evaluation.

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software defects and performance bottlenecks.

• Refactor and modernize legacy codebases to improve maintainability, scalability, and reliability.

• Document technical reasoning, architecture decisions, and solution approaches to support AI training initiatives.

• Review and validate peer-contributed code and technical content for quality, clarity, and correctness.

_Required Qualifications_

• Strong proficiency in at least one of the following: _Python, Java, Rust, Go, C++, or TypeScript_.

• Active _GitHub, GitLab, or open-source contribution history_ demonstrating software engineering expertise.

• Deep understanding of _algorithms, data structures, software architecture, and performance optimization_.

• Proven experience debugging complex systems and delivering maintainable software solutions.

• Experience implementing features, refactoring codebases, and improving software quality.

• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote environment.

 

_Preferred Qualifications_

• Experience working with _large-scale distributed systems_ and production-grade applications.

• Track record of significant contributions to open-source projects.

• Experience modernizing legacy systems and optimizing application performance.

• Strong understanding of software testing, CI/CD workflows, and engineering best practices.

• Experience conducting code reviews and mentoring other engineers.

• Familiarity with _AI, machine learning, LLMs, or AI-assisted software development tools_.

• Experience designing technical assessments, coding challenges, or engineering evaluation frameworks.
