Outside The Box is a digital agency based in Calgary, Alberta. We build websites, web applications, and digital marketing campaigns for clients across North America.

The Role

We're hiring an Intermediate Web Developer to build high-quality websites and web applications alongside our design and development team. You'll own features end-to-end, collaborate directly with designers and clients, and ship production code for recognizable brands in SaaS and beyond.

 

What You'll Do

* Build responsive, performant websites and web applications in Next.js and TypeScript
* Translate Figma designs into polished, production-ready interfaces in close collaboration with designers
* Integrate frontends with headless CMS platforms (Sanity, Contentful, WordPress) and REST / GraphQL APIs
* Optimize for Core Web Vitals, SEO, and cross-browser compatibility
* Participate in code reviews and help evolve our development standards
* Ship client work on deadline without sacrificing code quality

 

Required

* 3–5 years of professional frontend development experience
* Strong proficiency in TypeScript, React, and Next.js
* Solid HTML and CSS fundamentals
* Experience integrating with REST and GraphQL APIs
* Comfortable with Git and collaborative development workflows
* Strong grasp of responsive and mobile-first design
* Track record of shipping performant, accessible web experiences

 

Nice To Have

* Experience with headless CMS platforms (Sanity, Contentful, WordPress)
* Familiarity with Shopify or other e-commerce platforms
* Working knowledge of SEO best practices
* Experience with testing tools (Jest, Playwright, Cypress)
* Comfort in an agency environment with multiple concurrent projects

Compensation & Role Details

* Salary: $70,000–$90,000 CAD per year, based on experience
* Employment: Full-time employee (not contract)
* Location: Remote (Canada)
