This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Backend Engineer in the United States.
As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will lead the development and ownership of scalable, high-throughput, and low-latency backend services that power a high-volume crypto trading platform. You will work directly with senior leadership to design innovative features, optimize performance, and ensure system reliability for tens of thousands of daily active users. The role offers autonomy, technical leadership opportunities, and the chance to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in a fully remote environment. Your work will directly influence user experience, platform stability, and the evolution of complex trading infrastructure. Accountabilities
Take ownership of backend services, guiding architecture, design, and implementation for core trading functionality.
Develop and maintain robust backend systems using TypeScript and Bun.js to support trading operations, analytics, and third-party integrations.
Ensure high system availability and reliability through scalable architectures, monitoring, alerting, and disaster recovery processes.
Optimize performance for database queries, APIs, and web sockets to handle large-scale, real-time data streaming for thousands of concurrent users.
Maintain code quality through best practices, documentation, and minimizing technical debt.
Collaborate closely with frontend teams, product managers, and users to align backend solutions with platform goals.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering collaboration and achieving high-quality product delivery.
Requirements
7+ years of backend development experience, with strong proficiency in Node.js/Bun.js and TypeScript.
Proven experience designing and delivering complex microservices-based backends serving web clients end-to-end.
Experience building high-performance systems that support large-scale, concurrent users and real-time data streaming.
Strong proficiency in database design and optimization, particularly Postgres.
Expertise in developing robust APIs and web sockets.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while leading technical projects to completion.
Experience leading mid-sized engineering teams and providing mentorship.
Nice-to-Haves: Experience in crypto trading platforms, DeFi applications, on-chain trading, Solana ecosystem, and CI/CD pipelines.
