About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist / Business Intelligence Analyst with strong Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance experience to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will leverage advanced data science techniques and business intelligence tools to turn complex data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making and operational improvements.
You will work closely with business units, executives, and internal/remote technology teams to develop models, dashboards, and analytics solutions that optimize underwriting, claims, and other P&C processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business units and executives to design, maintain, and deliver BI datasets, analyses, visualizations, and reports.
- Develop and maintain Machine Learning models to improve, augment, and automate underwriting and claims processes.
- Partner with internal and offshore tech teams to deploy models and dashboards optimized for operational efficiency and cost.
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for decision-making at all levels of the organization.
Required Skills & Expertise:
- Strong communication skills to interface with stakeholders across all levels.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities for complex datasets.
- Deep understanding of data science methods and the full data science lifecycle (data acquisition, wrangling, labeling, modeling, deployment, and optimization).
- Expertise with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Domo, QuickSight.
- Hands-on experience with Python data science libraries: PyTorch, TensorFlow, Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib.
- Skilled in developing and using AI/ML models and integrating proprietary data sources.
- Familiarity with generative AI tools and custom Copilot prompts is a plus.
- Strong SQL skills; experience with PostgreSQL and Athena is advantageous.
- Exposure to AWS SageMaker, Redshift, and other AWS AI/ML/Analytics tools is a plus.
- Keen eye for detail and accuracy in complex, multi-layered datasets.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in P&C actuarial, data science, or business intelligence roles.
- At least 7 years of experience applying data science and BI skills in production.
- Master’s Degree in Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or related technical field.
- Certifications such as CAP or AWS Certified Machine Learning are advantageous.
