We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Front-End Engineer (UK-based) with deep experience turning detailed Figma designs into pixel-perfect, high-performance Next.js applications. You will be responsible for building a fast, responsive, production-grade front end that integrates cleanly with a well-structured backend API. This role is perfect for someone who values precision, performance, and exceptional user experience.
- Estimated total workload: approx 25 working days (spread flexibly over up to 2 months)
- Typical availability: 25–40 hours/week, depending on milestones
Responsibilities
- Convert detailed Figma designs into fully responsive, pixel-perfect React/Next.js components.
- Build reusable UI components and design systems using Tailwind CSS.
- Implement fast, SEO-friendly pages using SSR/ISR and modern Next.js features.
- Integrate backend APIs with clean state management, robust error handling, and smooth loading states.
- Optimise performance across all devices (image optimisation, caching, code splitting).
- Ensure consistent UI/UX quality, accessibility, and high-fidelity interactions across breakpoints.
- Collaborate closely with the backend developer to ensure seamless API integration and clear handoffs.
- Deliver clean, maintainable TypeScript code following best practices and scalable architecture.
Required Skills
- Expert-level proficiency in Next.js and React.
- Strong TypeScript experience.
- Proven ability to ship pixel-perfect front-end builds from Figma.
- Strong experience with Tailwind CSS or similar utility-first frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with SSR/ISR, routing, metadata, and performance optimisation.
- Solid understanding of API integration, state management (React Query / Zustand), and async flows.
- Ability to deliver production-quality, high-performance user interfaces.
Nice to Have
- Experience building internal dashboards or admin tools.
- Familiarity with accessibility and WCAG best practices.
- Experience with performance profiling and Lighthouse optimisation.
- Understanding of caching strategies and modern front-end architecture patterns.
